Help Gonzaga Overcome Prostate Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends, I want you to meet two amazing Catholic evangelists and family life ministers from Uganda, Africa - Gonzaga and Paskazia Lubega. They are the parents of three young adult children (the youngest still in high school) and directors of Maternal Life Uganda, in association with Maternal Life International (MLI), Butte, Montana, with Dr. George Mulcaire-Jones.
Both husband and wife started full-time ministry in 1999 through the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. They joined Maternal Life International in 2004. In the wake of the AIDS pandemic, the Lubegas collaborated with Dr. Mulcaire-Jones to write The Faithful House (TFH), a religious formation program to strengthen marriages and family life. Gonzaga and Paskazia have taught TFH in Uganda and in over 20 African countries. They have trained regional coordinators and team leaders to continue the implementation and development of TFH, and they support these leaders through continued education days. Both are certified natural family planning instructors with backgrounds in counseling and nursing.
I had the pleasure of meeting Gonzaga and Paskazia and working with them in Tanzania, where they taught The Faithful House program, and I taught a series of workshops on strengthening marriage. They teach sound Biblical and Catholic theology, promote healthy interpersonal dynamics, and invite participants into a profound conversion to God and the building of Christian community. They work with all Christian denominations. To this end, they have organized and raised funds for the construction of the St. Joseph Family Life Center in Masaka, Uganda, a center for supporting family life and health education.
Gonzaga and Paskazia are making a remarkable difference in the life of the Christian community in Uganda and many other African countries. Their work, however, is at risk because Gonzaga has been diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma (prostate cancer).
Gonzaga needs a radical prostatectomy. It is recommended that he have robotic surgery, which is not available in Uganda. The best option for him is to travel to India. He is scheduled for surgery there on January 31 and will have a three-week recovery period. The projected cost is $20,000.
Your donation is not tax-deductible, but it is an investment in the life and ministry of an amazing couple. Thank you for whatever you can afford to give.
