Help A Purple Heart WWII Vet Keep His Home
Donation protected
Meet my grandpa Bud! Albert “Bud” Selsor was barely 18 when he joined the United States Navy in 1943 to fight in WW II. He served in the Pacific Theater until 1946, receiving the Purple Heart after being injured by shrapnel and losing hearing in one ear. He is now 95 and has outlived two wives and his three siblings, but is a loving father to 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Bud’s home for the last several years has been an Assisted Living facility in Glenwood Springs, CO, where he would like to stay. He moved there to be closer to our family but it's become too expensive for him to stay there. Right now, his only option is to move to a new care facility far from our family. As it would be to any family, this is heartbreaking to us. Since March when he initially went into quarantine in the assisted living facility, he hasn't left. He's been very well taken care of since then and we are all so grateful he is safe from COVID-19, however, the only way we have been able to see Bud is to call and talk to him through a window. We are lucky to able to still see him in person and our visits always make my day but's difficult knowing he hasn't been able to give anyone a hug in 9 months. After everything he has fought through while still being the most caring and respectful man in the world, it would be devastating for him and us to see him move. He has been virtually alone since the beginning of COVID-19, and it would absolutely mean the world to our family and Bud if anyone would be willing to donate any amount to help keep him close to us. If we are able to raise $60,000 he can continue to live in the assisted living facility for 20 more months. Being able to keep Bud close to home would be the most wonderful Christmas surprise ever and I cannot express how much it would mean to us if we could continue to visit him. Even sharing the link to a few friends would help us out a ton! Hopefully you'll consider donating, any support we receive is amazing!
