Hello, my name is Rikia, and I am a single mother of five beautiful children, navigating life with resilience, determination, and a heart full of dreams. As a woman of color, an artist, and an advocate for youth, mental health, and homelessness, I am passionate about creating a positive impact in my community. However, I am currently facing overwhelming financial struggles and unsafe living conditions that make it challenging to provide for my family and pursue my goals.

My Current Situation:

We are currently living in a home with mold, which is affecting our health and well-being. Despite being on Section 8 housing assistance, I have been offered only options in unsafe neighborhoods, leaving me feeling trapped and desperate for a safe environment for my children. As a full-time mom in recovery, I am working hard to heal and provide a better life for my family, but the challenges are piling up.

Every day is a struggle to ensure my kids are safe and healthy while managing household expenses and trying to stay afloat on public assistance. Despite these hardships, I remain committed to my dreams and to building a better future for my family and community.

My Dream:

One of my biggest dreams is to launch a Creative Expression Center in Pittsburgh—a space where people can heal, connect, and rediscover themselves through art, mental health programs, and community-building activities. This center would be a beacon of hope, providing support and tools to overcome trauma and life's challenges, just as I have been doing in my personal journey.
