Help A Survivor Beat Her Battle Against Cancer

Machelle Nowlin is none other than a survivor. She has survived an unstable upbringing, including childhood abuse and multiple moves/caregivers. She is a U.S. Army veteran, serving her country for eight years. She lived through domestic violence and abuse later in life. Machelle is also a proud mother of four beautiful children, including a bonus son and a fur baby bringing up the rear.

Despite these challenges, Machelle has earned her college education, created a professional career path, provided well for her children as a single parent, positively contributes to her family and community, remains deeply devoted to her faith and is an active member of her new church.

And now, Machelle is preparing to be an advanced breast cancer survivor.

Seven months into the battle of her life, Machelle needs at least another $2000 a month to meet her and her children’s basic needs.

Machelle was diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2+ Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer earlier this year. Her cancer battle requires a demanding bi-weekly chemotherapy schedule and a double mastectomy in a few weeks. Her treatment, while saving her life, has brought on severe side effects, including the development of type 2 diabetes.

Given the high cost of healthcare and unreliable outside assistance, Machelle returned to full-time work while continuing her chemotherapy and preparing for surgery. And still, her earnings barely cover her rent, much less other expenses and her children’s needs.

Machelle – forever a survivor and fighter – attempted to take on a second, part-time job and quickly discovered that she was not well enough. Unfortunately, too, with upcoming surgery, she is facing the real possibility of becoming further financially under water.

We aim to raise $10,770 to cover her monthly expenses for three months. This amount will allow Machelle to avoid further debt, provide for proper post-surgery recovery, and afford rent and other basics for her children.
