{Header Image Description: Background photo of wrecked gray SUV, with shattered windshield, crushed roof and hood, and broken off side mirror. The vehicle sits by a brick wall in a wrecker lot. In the foreground are cartoony versions of ourselves. On the right is Kaer, wearing a green button up with a red and white mushroom pattern. They also wear aviator frame eyeglasses, a shaggy brown mohawk, and sport a patchy, scruffy beard. They are shrugging in dismay and crying. On the left is Weir, wearing a pale yellow shirt and lavender cloud pattern overalls. They also wear a pink baseball cap and large purple cat-eye frame eyeglasses. They have a tuft of curly strawberry blonde hair showing from under the cap. They are doing T-Rex arms and crying. In the center is bold red text on a pale pink rectangular background reading "Urgent Vehicle & Survival Fund."}
Hi, we’re Weir and Kaer, a married trans couple in URGENT need of help. We need assistance affording a vehicle and moving away from an abusive household. Used cars of reliable quality cost around $6-10k in our area, so we set our goal above that. Any remaining money raised will go towards moving out as soon as possible.
Due to a serious accident, we lost our car and the resulting financial difficulties made it impossible to keep ourselves housed. We had no option but to move in with Kaer’s abusive parents to avoid becoming homeless in Tennessee, a VERY unsafe place for trans people. We effectively had to flee, only to wind up in another unsafe situation.
We have our large dog and two cats living in one small room with us. There is only a small area of floor to walk and we have no choice but to sleep next to a litter box. We are controlled in nearly every aspect of our lives. We cannot eat without permission and when we do, we are forced to restrict food dangerously. Food is often even hidden from us. Kaer has medical dietary needs that are not being met. We’re given no privacy or respect for our boundaries, and we are always being listened to in private conversations. We are also actively prevented from leaving the house. In short, we suffer a range of abuses daily.
We are both at our breaking point, regularly trapped in hypervigilance. Both of us are deeply depressed and often experience SI. We need to get out as soon as we can, and desperately need help to do so. A vehicle is the first step to gaining mobility and independence. It will also offer us more options to obtain work, as we are currently sabotaged/prevented from working.
Anything helps, and every cent is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for reading! We are grateful for your time. And our little family of critters is grateful too. Pet pics below!
