Help a Trans Girl Attend the Tin House Writing Workshop

Hello! My name is Riley Yaxley. I am a transgender writer and editor living in Chicago, Illinois. Earlier this fall, I was waitlisted for the 2025 Tin House Winter Workshop, a week-long writing intensive with curated workshops, industry panels, craft lectures, agent meetings, affinity groups, social hours.

A few days ago I found out that I was accepted to the workshop, which will be the first time I've had the opportunity to workshop my fiction writing alongside a group of peers and with the support of a mentor. I believe this will be a transformative creative and professional experience that will benefit my writing for years to come!

However, I am not being offered a scholarship and have to pay the tuition ($800) by January 7. Because I'm still paying off medical debt from three rounds of gender affirming surgeries, I'm hoping to fundraise a portion of the tuition cost to ease the financial burden of attending.
