I am proud and excited to announce that I will be studying abroad this summer through UCSD’s global seminars ASL in Paris program! I will be spending 6 weeks in Paris learning about the origins of sign language and being immersed in the culture of France. I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity.
Many people have asked how they can support me in this endeavor and the main thing right now is financial support. I was blessed and humbly receive the UCSD Chancellors study abroad scholarship which covers the program cost but I could still use some help covering the cost of books and living expenses while there. If you or your business would like to support I have started a go fund me additionally if you know of any resources please let me know! Again I am so grateful for this opportunity and any resources are greatly appreciated!
A little more about me i am 19 years old I am from San Diego and I am currently a senior at UCSD. I am graduating 2 years early from the University of California San Diego with a bachelors in Communications with a double minor in political science and American Sign Language. I am a a part of the Black Alumni scholars program through the sd foundation as well as the Donna Marie memorial scholars program. I also had the opportunity to participate in the TRELS research program at UCSD where I researched how to stop overdoses on college campuses and wrote a research proposal to get dorm rooms stocked with Narcan. I am currently a licensed drone pilot and have been since I was 16 years old because of a program I was in at the elementary institute of science. I serve on the UCSD Black Student Union Board as the SPACES x BSU Kujichagulia access coordinator. I hope to become a pilot and a journalist. The verse I live by is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Studying a broad is such a great opportunity and I’m so genuinely grateful to have it!
