Help a Veteran Father of Five After His Wife's Passing
Donation protected
Life took an unimaginable turn for my brother Nathan and his family over the last six weeks. He has had to quit his job and take on a full-time caregiver role as his wife Erica battled several major health issues and became more bedridden recently. After a sudden shift in her health on September 7th, Erica was airlifted from their home in Etowah, TN, to a hospital in Birmingham, AL, where she spent five days battling severe liver and kidney failure, as well as respiratory complications. Despite doctors' best efforts, including dialysis and intubation, her condition never improved to the point where kidney or liver transplants could be considered. On September 11, she passed away peacefully, leaving behind Nathan and their five young children.
Nathan, who remained faithfully by Erica’s side throughout this time, is now faced with the enormous responsibility of caring for their children—Jackson (12), River (10), Saidie (8), Carter (7), and West (4)—while grieving the loss of his wife.
Nathan had to quit his job to care for his family for several weeks, leaving the family vulnerable. With medical bills, funeral expenses, and the cost of supporting five children, Nathan now faces an overwhelming financial burden as he tries to rebuild their lives in the wake of this loss.
Your donations will go toward:
1. Funeral and Cremation Costs: Preparing for Erica’s final arrangements has placed an immediate financial strain on the family. These expenses are expected to total between $5,000 and $7,000.
2. Childcare and Household Support: Nathan will need help with childcare and basic household needs in the coming months as a single father. Estimated costs range from $5,000 to $8,000.
3. Medical Expenses: Although the family had insurance, the unexpected medical bills from Erica’s ICU care, medevac flight, and dialysis have accumulated between $28,000 and $65,000.
4. Living Expenses: Nathan will be looking for a new job while caring for his children, so funds will help cover rent, utilities, and food over the next six months, totaling an estimated $15,000 to $30,000.
How You Can Help:
Erica’s kindness touched so many lives, and her memory will live on through her children. We can honor her by supporting Nathan and his family as they navigate this painful new chapter. No matter the amount, every donation makes a difference in helping them through their darkest days.
Thank you for your generosity and standing with this veteran and his family during this unimaginable loss.
