Help a Victim & Her Child Escape Domestic Violence

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and well-wishers,

I come to you asking for your help a very close friend of mine who is taking the very brave and very necessary steps of getting herself and her two year old child out of a domestic violence situation. I have chosen not to reveal her identity as I do not want to further endanger her or her child.

For the entirety of their relationship, she has suffered physical, emotional, and financial abuse at the hands of this man. When he discovered that she had plans to remove both herself and their child from the situation, he took the child and withheld him from his mother for days. She has been working with a local domestic abuse organization to navigate this situation. We were able to secure a domestic violence protective order for her earlier this week. Child Protective Services is now involved with the situation and she was able to have two days with her son. During this time, her ex-partner violated the restraining order and he is (as far as we know) in jail. She, her home, and her child have been marked as safe. We now await a court date that has been set for next week. Because she has had to spend the last week fighting for the safety of herself and her child, she has had no alternative but to take a temporary (unpaid) leave of absence from work. This means she cannot afford rent, childcare, legal fees, reliable transportation, and other day-to-day living expenses.

This is where you guys come in. She desperately needs your help as she begins to start a new life for herself. Your financial contributions will go toward the following:

- Rent
- Childcare
- A vehicle of her own
- Lawyer fees
- Food
- Healthcare

1 in 3 women experiences domestic violence during her lifetime. Each day, 4 women die as a result of abuse. A woman is beaten every 15 seconds in the United States. 35% of all emergency room calls are a result of domestic violence (the leading cause of injury to women in the United States).

While she is part of the statistic, it does not have to define her life. Let’s all pitch in to help her and her child as much as we can. We are beyond appreciative for any financial assistance you can find it in your heart to give. We are also grateful for those who share this with others as we work to bring my friend and her child into safety.

Thank you so much for your consideration and God bless you.
