My name is Sara Garcia and I am the proud CEO of Naturel Beauty Collective.
Naturel Beauty Collective is a group of artists who focus on services that make less work for women to do in the mornings, we help them wake up feeling great from the start and our goal is to decrease time spent on their morning routine and to increase their confidence. We have been fortunate enough to survive the initial pandemic shutdowns, but a sudden move has us needing to ask for help iI to ensure the successful move for the Collective and the women entrepreneurs involved in it.
We are home to many talented artists and we are a crucial step for many women building their business in the beauty field. We host those with big aspirations who need a few steps in between where they are… and doing this full time or opening their own store front. Many people lost their jobs in our industry due to salon shut downs, it was a huge set back for millions of women and they are now trying to get back to doing what they love but they need the flexibility that Naturel can provide as they take steps back to where they want to be.
The shop survived the pandemic by me taking out a loan that I am now paying back at 1500 a month. The money received went to paying rent when we were closed for over 7 months, on top of making improvements to create a cleaner, more welcoming environment. We built a few walls and some semi-private stations, replaced the stained ceiling and redid the restroom. I’m very proud of what I built here. I have invested my whole savings and the remainder of that loan into this shop with the intention that I am building roots here for me and my renters and my plan was to stay another 5 or 10 years, but my landlord passed and his family sold the building and new landlord has decided to triple my rent.
Moving is definitely more affordable than paying three times the rent but I greatly underestimated how much this move was going to cost and tried to put it on credit cards. I thought it would be close to 15,000 to move but the move is costing me closer to 40,000. It is still a better option in the long run than paying triple in rent, but once I realized how much more it was going to be I attempted to get another business loan to make it happen and now with me having put so much on my cards before applying for a loan I am being told no. So here we are: it’s go time. I have trust that what I need will come to me if it is meant to be.
We have a few goals for this month:
Feb 14
: when we raise $9,000 we can paint the shop, and begin the build out, and also hire a painter to help me paint and an electrician to do some much needed improvements in the shop top make it safe.
Feb 17 when hit $21,000 we can afford to finish the build out and afford to hire the help needed to move this whole place.
Feb 25 when we have hit the 36,000 mark we can fix the carpet on the stairs, and get signage!! Every donation no matter how small is appreciated. If you don’t want to donate but would love to help, please schedule an appointment with us or buy a gift certificate online for someone you love. We hope to only be closed Feb 19th-23rd to move.
This has been a very trying past few years for me as a business owner. I have two small kids I help support and I am committed to making the changes needed to keep this place alive and helping other business owners get their start. If you care about women entrepreneurs getting the assistance they need to have a space to call home and cultivate their business, growing their income for their families also please donate.
Help us rise back up!!! If you Donate please leave your first and last name or your ig handle so we can name you on our gratitude wall in our shop and so we can invite you to our grand opening party when we are ready to host it, hopefully in March.
