Help a young Gazan doctor to achieve his dream
Donation protected
This is Mustafa, a medical doctor from Gaza - Palestine. I have graduated 7 months ago, sadly I’m starting my career as an internship doctor in such horrible conditions in the previously beautiful Gaza city.
In my graduation ceremony, I’ve carried my dream!
Since October 7th 2023, horrible airstrikes started massacring innocent Gazan’s destroying their houses, public places, hospitals, churchs and mosques without any kind of warning. Everything turned into ashes and rubble!
This is how my neighborhood looks like!
I have evacuated my home on the 10th of October 2023, and I was forced to leave the north of Gaza to the south. Ever since that day, I have been homeless. Imagine leaving everything that you own behind you and running for your life, that’s what we went through.
My family and I currently live in a tent near the Egyptian borders, which can barely protect us from the cold nights and the hot days of the desert. We struggle to find our daily needs, like water and food, because we can barely find them, and we count each passing day hoping that one day we would get a ceasefire. I hope that day would be near.
I used to work in the emergency department at Al-Shifa hospital, and I have dealt with thousands of different injuries caused by military missiles. I also was a part of the follow-up process in the inpatient ward. My only aim was to save lives.
My father is the only thoracic surgeon in Gaza, and I have joined his team as a volunteer to help him because his small team simply couldn’t deal with the massive number of cases. Together, we performed many thoracic exploration operations.
I have stayed in Al-Shifa hospital for 34 days, and I could barely steal any minute for rest. Heck, taking a shower to clean myself from the blood was nearly impossible at that time.
My father and I were forced to leave Al-Shifa hospital, but we decided that it was our duty to continue treating our people’s injuries, so we went to Nasser hospital until the end of January when it was surrounded by military tanks. We now work in Rafah’s hospitals, which are not suited for the massive number of people that evacuated to the city.
During Med school, I started using my computer skills to become financially independent through freelancing websites, but now I lost my laptop, and I rarely have internet access. I’ve to walk 5 miles and climb a hill that is surrounded by tents everyday to get a semi-usable internet connection.
Since my first day in medical school, I always carried the dream of working in the UK in my heart. Exactly last year, I was doing a cardiology clinical attachment in Manchester Royal Infirmary in England. I have learned so much, and I have enjoyed every moment. My wish is continue my education there to become a cardiologist.
I still have the passion and I’m dedicated to continuing my career in the UK, but due to the current circumstances in the Gaza strip, I have to pay 7000$ to get out of Gaza, and I have to take some standardized tests like OET and PLAP (or UKMLE) exams, in addition to paying for my visa fees, flight tickets, accommodation, GMC registration fees and epic verification fees to start my career.
My dream is not easy to reach, but turning it into a reality will be possible through your help. Your generosity will help me get closer to my dream, and I will sincerely appreciate any donation no matter how small. Please consider sharing my campaign with your friends and family, and I will be forever grateful for your kind assistance in this difficult time.
