Help a Colombian double bass player master Tango in Germany!

About Me

Hello! My name is Sofia Alvarez, and I am a passionate double bass player from Medellin, Colombia. I am currently a bass major at the University of Antioquia and have had the incredible opportunity to perform with various prestigious ensembles, including Colombia's National Symphonic Orchestra, Medellin Philarmonic Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur in Switzerland, and the New World Symphony in Miami.

Apart from playing classical music, Tango music is my passion. I started playing Tang 5 years ago. Since then, I joined a youth tango ensemble (Doble AA), with whom I have participated 3 times at the International Tango Festival of Medellin and perform weekly at events and restaurants. Additionally, I was part of two tango tours in Germany and Italy in 2022 and 2023 with the A Puro tango company from Colombia.

The Workshop

I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted to participate in "Tango Sin Fin", an intensive one

-week (July 29th - August 3rd) tango workshop in Leipzig, Germany. This workshop is an exceptional opportunity for me to deepen my understanding and mastery of tango music, work with world-renowned instructors from Argentina, and connect with other talented musicians from around the globe. This experience will be invaluable in enhancing my skills and contributing to my musical journey.

Why I Need Your Help

To make this dream a reality, I need to raise 1,600 euros to cover the costs of my plane tickets and workshop inscription fees. As a young musician from Colombia, this amount is a significant financial challenge, and I am reaching out to the community for support.
