Help a young man and his cat escape abusive home
My name is Nephi, and I am a disabled FTM transgender man. THIS IS NOT A TRANSITION FUND. I WILL NOT USE ANY OF THIS MONEY FOR A GENDER TRANSITION. Please help me financially support myself as I escape an abusive home.
I am currently trapped in a psychically, emotionally, and spiritually abusive home. My parents are part of an extremist religious group, and they will not let me work, or get a driver’s license. I plan to escape as soon as I turn 18, and I have a plan to do so safely. But to do this I will need financial independence, which my parents have deprived me of. I unfortunately have a physical disability that requires medication, which I will have to pay for as well. I will also need to bring my pet cat with me, because I fear for her safety if she is left at that house without me. The money donated to me will only be used for minimum living accommodations for her and I for 6 months/until I get a job. With the job shortage now, I don’t estimate a very long wait until I am accepted into something, but this job will also need to accommodate my disability.
Please help me if you can. Anything is appreciated, even a share.
MORE ABOUT MY SITUATION
My disability:
I have a chronic pain disorder which, among other things, requires me to use a cane to walk. It flares up when I’m in the heat, so I have plans to travel somewhere more cold/temperate so working is easier. The money donated will not be used to fund this travel. Like i said before, I need medication for this disorder, which this money will go towards.
My finances:
I have been doing art commissions for money for a while, but I do not have enough exposure or skill to really rely on that for income. This has been done in secret, and under pseudonyms to avoid detection from my family. Like I said, they have kept me from getting a job or being independent in any way. If you would like to commission me for an art piece instead of donating, please message me at ___. Anything helps.
The abuse:
My devices are checked, I am not allowed to lock my door, I am not allowed to go to a public school—I have virtually no privacy in my home. I have been struck by my parents several times. I have been threatened with grave violence and with homelessness for very small things. I have been seriously threatened with medical abuse for insignificant things. I never feel completely safe in my home. My parents intend to force me to stay until I am 21, at which point they will want me to look for a person to marry. They intend to do so through financial pressures. This is why I must become financially independent.
The cat:
I know it might sound strange, but my family will not take care of my cat at all. She is a rescue, and she does not eat, bathe, or go to the restroom without me there. She has severe separation anxiety, and doesn’t trust anyone else in the house. I plan to care for her myself for as long as possible but if I must, I do know of a family that will take her in, where i can visit.
To anyone who helps—thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you enough. You’ve made a different in my life. All I want is independence. You have helped me step towards that.
I want to be a medical professional in the future. I want to assist loved ones, and even strangers in the same situation. I want to help others as you have helped me.
