Help a young mother get a new wheelchair.

Hi, hope you all are doing well. I am starting this to help a young mother. She is the mother of my Grandson. She is 33 and has been in a wheel chair since she was 5. She was hit by a drunk driver. That day changed her life forever.
She doesn’t even know until today that I am doing this. Corrine needs a new lightweight wheel chair. I wanted this to be a surprise, but I just can’t afford it on my own.
Corrine came into our lives 12 years ago when she had our grandson Hudson. Since that day, never once have I heard her complain or bitch about a thing. She is truly remarkable.
For 12 years now I have watched her roll herself to her car, lift herself in, disassemble the chair, lift in the wheels, then the seat and be on her way. I have watched her wheel her way through the grass to make sure she makes every football practice and game, every soccer practice, every school event, it doesn’t matter what it is is, if her boys are in it she is there. She is just a proud mom. Never complaining once, she has always amazed me. And she has always done this by herself. Never asking for help!
Recently her wheel chair was giving her trouble, it needed to be fixed. So she called me and asked if I could take a look at it for her. So she comes over in the chair, this is the same chair since i have known her. I get her out of it and take a look. I am no wheel chair mechanic but I do know how to fix stuff. The hubs the detachable wheels go into had backed out and were loose, almost to the point of falling off. The play in the them from being worn causes a wobble in the wheels. The two casters in the front are completely worn out, bearings are shot, seat is completely worn and frame handle is gone and to be honest…this thing is really Heavy.
She has become a daughter to me. Kinda feeling like I need to do more for her. I was starting to get upset and a little sad.
I started thinking how hard it must be for her to lift this thing in and out of that car multiple times a day. Her shoulders will be shot in a ten more years.
I asked her “why don’t you get a new chair”? Well she doesn’t have the job with the good insurance and because she chooses to work 40 hours a week the disability insurance won’t cover it. Besides the kind of chair she needs, no way insurance covers it. SO SAD!!!
Well it was at that point I decided I was going to do something. I decided she deserves a new wheel chair for Christmas. One that’s light weight and will last. So I did my research and found a company called Hands On Customs. They make amazing chairs to FIT the person. But they are not cheap!!!
That’s where this Go Fund me comes in. I could really use all your help. I have managed to come up with $2000.00 between myself and a few other family members. But it’s not nearly enough. We need about $7000.00 to $9000.00 more max. Hard to say exactly as the chair hasn’t been built. That cost will not be known until the order process starts to take place.
So please help me help this amazing young mom who really needs this. Honestly she deserves it.
Thank you in advance for all the help, when we meet our goal and get the new chair I’ll make sure to post a picture of her with it. You all are amazing!!
Sincerely,
Kelly Wisner
