Help a young, single mother beat cervical cancer!

Donation protected

As many of you may or may not know, a local woman who happens to be a single mother to 2 young children is going through the fight of her life right now. Sharon Mitchell found out late last year, at the age of 34, that she has stage 3 cervical cancer. After several months of hospital visits and unanswered questions, this diagnosis came as a complete shock.

Sharon is loved and respected by many people in the community, especially her friends and customers at Airbase Carpet and Tile Mart in Millsboro,  where she has worked for the last 6 years. Dedicated, hard-working, kind, and amazing mother are just a few devotions that describe Sharon. Anyone that knows her, knows her children are her entire world. In fact, throughout this difficult time, they have been the first and only thing on her mind. What will the future look like for them? She can’t leave her children behind without a mother. She is everything to them! These are thoughts that would go through ANY parent’s mind after learning that they have a critical illness.

The goal of this Go-Fund Me is to help relieve some of the imminent financial burden Sharon will face over the next several months. She is currently taking double treatments of chemotherapy and radiation at the Tunnel Cancer Center in Lewes. These treatments are so brutal, that she spends most of her days hooked up to an IV and bed-ridden. She is completely unable to work. However, life doesn’t stop for things like this. She still has bills just like the rest of us; rent, electric, car payment, insurance, groceries, and cell phone are just a few. Not to mention, she now has steadily rising medical bills on top of everything else. Insurance only covers a small portion of the treatment and in-patient hospital bills she is facing. She is also the sole care-giver to both of her children, Leah and TJ.

We are asking the community to come together to help Sharon and her children achieve as normal of a life as possible during this crisis. Please, any donation, no matter how big or small is appreciated and will help towards reaching the goal we have set. We believe this amount will at least help Sharon get through her current treatments and hopefully help reach the REAL goal, which is to ultimately be cancer-free. Thank you so much for reading, and if anyone has any questions or any other kind of donations they would like to make, please find my contact info listed at the bottom of this page.

** It has also been mentioned that food donations would be helpful! This would include gift cards to grocery stores, grocery store hauls, or even if you’d like to donate a home-cooked meal. Please contact Bobbi (contact info also listed below) to make arrangements for food donations.**
