Help Aaron and his family

Donation protected
I am fundraising for my little brother Aaron and my parents Gudy and Danny Brock. This is Aaron. He is 17 years old and considered a medical mystery because of a genetic mutation that has produced mitochondrial disease. This mutation has never been recorded before. Aside from his genetic mutation – which was not discovered until this last year – Aaron was born with anatomical birth defects. Throughout the 17 years of his life, he has pushed through countless battles: diagnoses and misdiagnoses, hospitals and clinics, surgeries, and much more. Aaron has suffered a tremendous amount of trauma – physically and mentally. My parents have dedicated their lives and careers to helping keep Aaron stable and alive. Still, his health has continued to decline to a point where hospitals and doctors seem to have nowhere to admit him and no idea what to do with his complex case. My parents have reached a point where they face bankruptcy and risk losing everything due to the nature of the situation – years of medical bills, insurance, and uncertainty as to what steps to take next to help Aaron. They have given their all, always.
Many friends, family, and members of our community know Aaron to be a charismatic and personable boy. Aaron began to have a numerous amount of issues after 2012 when he contracted a hospital bacteria (C.DIFF). The hospital failed to diagnose it and treat him accordingly, and this nearly took his life. Ever since, Aaron’s behavior has flipped like a switch. He rapidly developed extreme OCD and has routines that consume his waking hours. Doctors have assumed this stemmed from post-infectious inflammation of his brain that has the possibility of causing severe, untreatable behaviors in some children.
At this point, we are trying to figure out what comes next for Aaron. A few options remain, including putting him in a medically induced coma to put a feeding line in him, finding an effective treatment for his extreme OCD, or simply watching him struggle to exist day by day. It pains me to ask for help, but I pray that one day I can share Aaron and our family’s story to raise awareness on behalf of all the children and families out there suffering similarly trying circumstances.

Funds will go towards out-of-network experts for Aaron's care, and saving our family home. Any donation is much appreciated.
