Help Abbey beat the pain of CRPS

Donation protected
Abbey, our beautiful 16-year-old has been struck down with a debilitating condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Abbey is so clever and kind, a true gentle soul, and her young life has been taken over by this daily, cruel and intense pain. Even during the most horrific flares, Abbey has a beautiful heart and is more concerned about how everyone else is coping, despite being in excruciating pain.

CPRS is a complex condition with no cure.

CRPS, is classed as the most painful chronic pain condition that is known.

Abbey has been experiencing this level of pain daily, with no relief. Even the slightest touch of her foot will send her into a full-blown flare, and there is nothing we can do to ease it for her. Most days she cant tolerate anything on her foot, even a blanket at night will set off her pain. Her whole life has changed, and Abbey has not been able to attend school or do the regular things she loves doing like karate, taking her dog for a walk and catching up with her friends. She has been robbed of all these little simple things, that most of us take for granted. Abbey is a straight-A student, loves school and just wants her life to be normal again. No one deserves this level of pain, especially a young girl with so much ahead of her.

Abbey also has an amazing artistic ability, something that she finds therapeutic during this difficult time. We have tried everything to take away the pain, whilst minor anything to distract her from this constant feeling has helped. But the struggles are becoming more intense and difficult for her as each day goes on.

Abbey describes the pain as being intense burning, stabbing, and tingling, almost as if the skin is being peeled off. To face this kind of torture daily is exhausting and also takes a toll on her mental health.

As a single Mum, with another child to take care of, it is also affecting our day-to-day life. I am having to stop work, as I need to be with Abbey at all times and take her to her appointments, which are also becoming very costly.

Today we visited an amazing pain specialist here in Toowoomba, QLD who has given us hope! Abbey will be booked in for a week-long hospital stay to receive ketamine infusions. He has had great success with treating CRPS with this method in the past and is confident that this will help Abbey into remission. Anything that will ease the pain for her will be a blessing, but we are all feeling very hopeful that this treatment will help her be pain-free and back to a normal way of living again.

The treatment is not cheap and is not covered by insurance. We are hoping that your generosity in helping cover the cost to make this treatment possible. All money raised will go to paying for her medical treatment whilst in hospital, and rehabilitation.

Every donation will make a difference to help pay for this treatment and her following rehabilitation process. We just want to see our Abbey happy and living life to the fullest again.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are truly grateful for anything that you can give, big or small. Please share Abbey's story not only to help Abbey, but also to raise some awareness for this debilitating condition.

Thank you again
Abbey and Family
