Help Abby Get To The 2024 Rose Bowl Parade

This is Abby. She was born with a rare genetic condition that makes everyday tasks we take for granted

difficult. Growing up, she couldn't keep up with her friends and often felt left out and different. That all

changed the day she discovered band. She joined the band in the 7th grade and immediately found a

group of friends that included her and made her feel like a part of the group.

Fast forward to now. Abby is a Senior at Castle High School, and is a proud member of the Castle

Marching Knights. Following an outstanding performance at the Grand Nationals in Indianapolis in 2022,

the Castle Marching Knights were invited to march in the 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade in

California. The invitation to march is a true honor. Only one high school gets invited to play and march.

Abby is so excited to have the opportunity to play and march with her friends in the Rose Parade. What

better way to finish her high school career than to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience?

However, there is a daunting obstacle that Abby's family must overcome: the overall cost of the trip.

Abby and her parents will participate in the fundraisers set up to supplement the trip cost for band

members. However, because of her special-needs, that still won’t be enough financial assistance for her.

She is asking for your help. The family needs to raise $8,000 to help lighten the financial burden of the

trip. This amount does not cover the entire trip expense, but it will help make the trip a reality for Abby.

Unlike her friends in the band, she cannot just board a plane and go like her friends can. She needs

supportive care that is a huge one-on-one responsibility. The chaperones are simply unqualified and

unprepared to provide this care for her. In order for Abby to attend and participate, she needs her

parents there as well. They are her physical caregivers and helpers. Why both parents? Abby’s care is

more than a full-time job. It is a huge responsibility that requires both of them to work in unison

together for Abby.

For Abby, this trip means the world. For Abby, this trip may very well be the highlight of her lifetime. We
