Help Abby Sheehan Rebuild
Donation protected
In the early hours of the morning on January 14th, during the snowstorm, Abby awoke to massive amounts of water flooding into her apartment from every opening in the ceiling. A pipe had burst in the apartment above hers. Within a very short amount of time her entire apartment, and all her belongings, were saturated. She had to gather her 4 animal companions and quickly evacuate, leaving everything she had worked so hard to build for herself behind. I have known Abby for a long time and have witnessed her hard work and dedication to building a comfortable and happy home for herself and her beloved pets. (As a side about her heart and character, Abby dedicates time out of her busy schedule to volunteer at a local farm that cares for displaced farm animals). In the blink of an eye all that she has worked so hard to create was destroyed or badly damaged. Abby and her animal companions are currently staying with a friend and because she worked from home she has also lost a week of work and wages -so far.
6 other apartments were impacted from the burst pipe. At this time Abby and her animal companions will be displaced from their home for at least a month. Renters insurance will only cover 50% replacement value of her belongings without receipts and documentation of purchase dates and amounts (how many of us would have that type of documentation?) and payout of this will not be instantaneous. In the interim Abby will need to immediately replace all of her most basic items, such as food and clothing, and have enough to make sure she and her companions are secure. As her friend I have seen how much it pains her to even need to ask for the help of her friends and community as she worked so hard to create a sustainable life for herself and her beloved pets, BY herself. Which is why I offered to create this fund to help her temporarily while she begins rebuilding from the ground up. I want Abby and her pets to have what they need as they face the next difficult steps of replacing all that was lost.
This recent storm has greatly impacted many and many are struggling but any contribution to help sweet Abby rebuild will be beyond appreciated. If you’re unable to help financially kind wishes and shares of this fundraiser are sincerely appreciated, too.
I plan on updating this fund as more information is available and about Abby’s progress. Please send good thoughts for her and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, or contributing. Thank you, friends, on behalf of Abby and myself.
