Help Abby Reclaim Her Life: Funding Medical Treatment for 14-Year-Old Abby's CRPS in New Zealand.

Introduction:
Welcome to Abby's GoFundMe page, where we are humbly seeking support to enable our 14-year-old rockstar to access specialised treatment for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), the most excruciating condition according to the McGill pain scale. Abby's journey has been marked by unimaginable constant pain day and night, and countless sacrifices, including being forced to give up her beloved sport of kickboxing, which those who know her best will understand is no small thing. Via this treatment we hope that Abby has a chance to reclaim her life and find relief from the relentless agony of CRPS.

About Abby's Battle:
Abby's experience with CRPS began after a minor hand injury in May 2023, rapidly throwing her into a world of unending torment. X-rays, MRIs, nerve conduction tests, countless appointments with hand therapists, pain specialists, psychologists, and plastic surgeons followed as her pain intensified to the point that a small breeze on her hand left her unable to breathe and the sensation of something as simple as putting a jumper on would leave her in indescribable levels of absolute agony, with pain relief medications unable to provide any relief. Finally, CRPS was diagnosed, and a litany of medications were commenced, all designed to calm her neurological and nerve responses, with her taking up to 30 tablets per day, with the medication side effects taking a toll all of their own. Horribly, CRPS is dubbed "the suicide disease," due to its sufferers seeing it as the only way of escaping the unrelenting pain - and after watching Abby's mental health rapidly decline despite her best efforts to remain positive, we can understand it's tragic nickname. Despite Abby's initial injury healing, her brain still continues to perceive excruciating levels of pain, trapping her in a constant state of both physical and mental suffering.

The Importance of Treatment in New Zealand:
Abby has an amazing team of doctors here at home, however after much investigation, we feel her best long term hope lies in New Zealand, where she has been accepted to attend a specialised week long treatment program in mid March that is rooted in neuro-linguistics. This approach targets the neurological and nerve dysfunction underlying CRPS, aiming to retrain Abby's brain to perceive less pain. Unlike usual pain management methods, this treatment addresses the root cause of Abby's suffering, offering her a chance at true relief and long term restoration of her quality of life, including the hope of perhaps one day getting her back to her happiest place, even if not competitively....

Why Support Abby:
Abby's courage and resilience in the face of unbearable pain are remarkable, and she remains determined to not let the pain win, even when it feels like she's losing the battle. We're extremely hopeful that this treatment can help alleviate her suffering and will see her reclaim her physical and mental well-being from the grips of chronic pain.

How you can help:
There are several ways you can support Abby's journey:

Donate: Your financial contributions, no matter how small, will make an enormously meaningful impact on Abby's life and help her access the treatment she urgently needs by assisting with flights and treatment costs.

Share: Spread the word about Abby's fundraiser by sharing her story with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can reach more people and rally support for her cause.

Offer Encouragement: Please leave a message of support for Abby in the comments section and let her know that she is not alone in her recovery. Abby has found CRPS to be incredibly lonely, particularly as it's taken her away from her usual outlets, and sending her strength and encouragement to keep on fighting through will help her more than we can ever describe.

Conclusion:
Thank you for reading Abby's story about her battle against CRPS. We look forward to a time when Abby is back to being her amazing full self, free from pain, and with a bright future.
