Help Abood's Family Secure Urgent Medical Care abroad
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Jayda from the Netherlands. I'm running a fundraiser on behalf of the Abu Auda family to provide their son and brother, Abood, with urgent medical assistance abroad. I have been in contact with Abu Auda family for a while and we are video calling weekly. The situation is getting worse for this family and I'd like to share their story with you.
Abood - brittle bone disease
Abood is unique and extremely vulnerable. He suffers from Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) which is a genetic or heritable disease in which bones fracture (break) easily, often with no obvious cause or minimal injury. The symptoms can range from mild with only a few fractures to severe with many medical complications. This condition leaves Abood incredibly vulnerable. He is surrounded by bombardments, with his family living in a school where they share a small space with other families. Conditions are unhygienic, and diseases are rampant. Clean water is scarce, and what is available is contaminated. There is no electricity and the building is infested with insects
Daily suffering & pain
What Abood needs most urgently is medical assistance from specialized doctors for his condition. In Gaza, local doctors are unable to help him due to the uniqueness of his condition. They have provided him with leg casts, but these cause Abood immense pain, leading him to cry throughout the day. The heat exacerbates his suffering. Abood urgently needs help and medication!
Goal
Doctors have provided Abood with a referral for medical assistance abroad. Unfortunately, a referral alone does not facilitate Abood's evacuation. To obtain assistance for Abood abroad, his parents must pay Egyptian organizations to cross the border between Gaza and Egypt. They charge $5000 for adults and $2500 for children. Additionally, they lack the funds to cover the essential medical expenses required for Abood.
The family story
The family lived in North Gaza with their six children. Due to a bombardment the family lost their daughter and sister. After the parents fled south with their five remaining children. They have been displaced four times. Father Mohammad (39) and mother Heba (39) lost their 14-year-old daughter, Batool. They currently reside with their children Ahmed (12), Zaina (11), Mohammed (10), Sari (7), and Abood (4) in Deir-Alballah.
Help Abu Auda family
It is crucial that Abood is evacuated as soon as possible. His life hangs in the balance every minute of the day. But we fervently hope that the family remains together and that his parents do not have to leave children behind to secure Abood's safety. Therefore, we have decided to initiate this fundraiser for the entire family, emphasizing the necessity of obtaining medical assistance abroad for Abood with the support of his entire family.
Please help the Abu Auda family to enable Abood to escape these horrors as soon as possible. Every donation, even the smallest, helps and is greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share this campaign so that others may help Abood. Together we can safe lives!
