Help Abu Baker Family Rebuild Their Lives

Hello everyone,

My name is Iman Abu Baker, aged 54, a widow and a mother to three remarkable sons and a daughter: Hassan, aged 31, a doctor who earned his medical degree from Russia; Haneen, aged 29, a loving mother to two young kids; Muhammad, aged 27, who obtained a bachelor’s degree in medical secretarial work; and Ahmed, aged 25, a recent graduate from the College of Pharmacy.

Throughout my life, my sole focus has been on nurturing and educating my children. I serve as a teacher at the Ebad al-Rahman School in Gaza. My late husband, a dedicated doctor, passed away several months ago, leaving me with the weighty responsibility of providing for our family. We had hoped to secure a bright future for our children through quality education, but the challenging circumstances in Gaza have thwarted their opportunities, despite their outstanding qualifications.

After fifteen years of hard work and diligent savings, I managed to build a five-story home—a sanctuary filled with love. However, the Israeli army bombed our home and shattered our haven, wiping away cherished memories of our children's upbringing in an instant. We lost everything we held dear, and I still bear the burden of debts incurred during the construction, with no income since the onset of the war on Gaza.

My eldest son, Hassan, selflessly serves as a doctor, tending to the wounded amidst the danger circumstances, unable to be by my side during this trying time. Losing my husband was a profound sorrow, but the turmoil of war has only compounded our hardships.

Forced to flee from our home in Tal al-Hawa to Khan Yunis, and subsequently displaced once more due to the Israeli occupation’s invasion, my family and I now find ourselves in Rafah, living in tents alongside countless others enduring similar trials.

Our only aspiration is to rebuild our home, to reclaim a sense of normalcy and security once a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza. Your compassionate assistance, donations, and support offer us a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. With your help, we can begin to rebuild not just our home, but also our shattered spirits, forging ahead with resilience and determination.
