Help Abulele Keep Her Home

Donation protected
Shame, embarrassment and societal pressures has not made asking for help easy as is the case with my family. We are on the verge of losing our home, a home in which my mother has solely and selflessly raised her 3 children, 3 grandkids and supported her mother for the past 13 years.

My mother had lost her job in 2010 and was unemployed for 5 years. She was therefore unable to keep up with the household monthly bills, including the bond payments for the house. Due to this she was put under debt review. Every little bit of money she was able to make during this period was spent on our families basic needs. At the time of her unemployment the bank had sent summons and had put our home up for auction. A relative had taken out a loan at the time to pay what the bank was demanding to stop the transfer of our home to another owner.

My mother has been employed since 2016 and has been diligently paying the amount our lawyers and the banks had agreed upon based on her salary. On months that she was able to, she would pay more than the amount stipulated. Hence, it has now come as a big shock that the bank has sent us a summon stating they will be putting our house on auction in March 2021. We have consulted with a lawyer in hopes that we can reach some agreement with the bank where we can keep our home however, the bank has refused. They have stated that we need to pay R75 000 by the 28th of February to stop the auction from taking place. My mother is unable to take out a loan due to the debt review and the relative who had helped us many years ago has since lost their job and are not able to assist us.

This entire ordeal has taken a toll on my mother as both her mental and physical health are deteriorating. We cannot afford to lose our home, especially since she is caring for 5 minors and should our home be taken away we will have nowhere to go.

Every single cent donated will be payed to the bank and will help ensure that we do not lose our home. We are aware and understand that COVID-19 has turned many of our lives upside down and therefore we would be very appreciative of any amount donated.

We would also greatly appreciate help with getting the word out. Please do share the link on your social media platforms and with friends/family who could potentially help.
