Support Ada & Juan Pablo After Eaton Fire
Donation protected
It is with great sadness that I share the story of a wonderful family, Ada and Juan Pablo, who have just lost their family home of 35 years in the devastating Eaton Canyon Fire. Due to the rapid evacuation notice, they were only able to leave with the clothes on their backs and minimal valuables. Everything else they own is gone, including countless old family photos and other irreplaceable items.
Ada and Juan Pablo are first-generation immigrants who built everything they had from very little. At times, they have held two jobs each just to scrape by. Ada built her own housekeeping business and has worked incredibly hard day in and out to support her family.
They raised their four beloved children in their home, and it was often the gathering spot for all the neighborhood kids. More recently, it had become the gathering spot for their seven beloved grandchildren too. Ada and Juan Pablo are known for their generosity, particularly with their home, often hosting sick or struggling friends and family members.
At ages 65 and 73, Ada and Juan Pablo have had and continue to have various health challenges. Ada was hoping to retire soon but is now unsure if she will be able to.
Because this loss is so devastating and such a shock, I worked with their daughter to help create this page so they can take a moment to regroup and to tackle insurance, find a rental to live in, etc. The Alvarado family is like family to mine. We have been friends since I was a little girl. For decades, Ada was our housekeeper and her two daughters babysat me throughout my childhood. In more recent years, without being asked, Ada has taken it upon herself to help look after my aging mother as she struggles. This is just what she and her husband do, for many. They are as loving, generous and kind as humans get.
Please help us help this family who means so much to so many.
Here is what remains of their home:
