Help Adam Fly Again

Dear friends,

three days ago, around 10 PM, I saw a post about a pigeon standing alone on the street in Redfern. It was late, and the sight of him broke my heart. I rushed over and gently picked him up from outside a store. His wing was severely swollen and drooping—he couldn’t fly. We named him Adam, hoping he would find the strength to recover.

I took Adam to the vet, and the examination revealed large cysts on both the inside and outside of his wing. The vet used a needle to drain a significant amount of pus, and after anesthesia and X-rays, they discovered abnormalities in the bones near the cyst. To help support his wing, the vet wrapped it in a large bandage and prescribed antibiotics and pain relief to ease his suffering. We are caring for him every day, but he will need follow-up vet visits in the coming weeks to monitor his progress.

The first vet visit, including consultation, anesthesia, X-ray, bandages, and medication, came to $518.11—even with a discount from the vet, it is still a significant financial burden for me. And with further check-ups and treatments ahead, the costs will continue to rise.
