Help Adel to Rebuild Her Life

Hello, I'm Adel, and I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. It means the world to me.

I have always tried to be a positive light in this world and help wherever I can, but this time, I am in need of help.

In 2017, I officially began the process of divorcing my husband after a year of separation. This came after years of abuse (in many forms) and infidelity. Before and during the divorce, his mismanagement of our business and funds cost us our home, and I have had to find my way into leasing an apartment and finding a job to support myself. He was ordered by a judge to pay alimony, which he ceased after the first year. Since then, it has been excuse after excuse and lie after lie, and I am struggling to support myself.

I co-managed our business for twenty-three years and even took the fall for fraudulent activity under his supervision. And after all of this, he is still trying to deny me payments I am entitled to.

The stress from this divorce has had a negative effect on my health, and in July of 2021, I suffered a major heart attack. This has resulted in many medications and steroids that also have an adverse effect on my body. I am recognized in California as disabled, with proper documentation and a handicap placard to match. My close friends believe I should not be working at all, but I have no other choice. The minimum-wage, part-time job I was fortunate enough to get doesn't come with full-time benefits or nearly enough pay for California. I moved three hours outside of LA for cheaper living costs and my job on the military base, and I'm still trying to make ends meet.

Lately, I have fallen behind on my rent and many bills. This is the reason my "kid" is helping me write this GoFundMe, because I really need help. My close friends and family have helped me with many resources, including a domestic violence case manager and government assistance. Even so, I am still digging myself out of a financial hole. I need your help, if you can find it in your heart to donate.

I am behind on my rent, car payments, car registration, and utilities, which I have conservatively calculated into the goal of this fundraiser. This amount will help to pull me out of this hole until we make other headway in the case with my attorney.
