Help Adeline Get a Handicap Accessible Van

Adeline is a precious and silly four year old girl that has rare neurological disorder called Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder that occurs mostly in girls. Girls develop normally until regression begins leading to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of their lives: the ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily.

When Addie was under a year old she could sit independently, play with her toys, feed herself solid foods, play with her big brother and sister, hum to the song On Top of Spaghetti, and even say “I love you!”

Rett Syndrome took all of this from Adeline. She is 100% dependent on her family to give her the care she needs and is stuck in a body that she is not in control of. She is now completely nonverbal but using an eye gaze device to learn to communicate. She is completely immobile and uses a standing device to help her hips properly grow into place. She has no functional hand use and has to have braces to keep her from her repetitive hand movements. Adeline is also is on a 24hr feeding tube pump, has seizures, breathing issues, sleep disturbances, the beginning of scoliosis, and is high risk and monitored for many other health issues.

Adeline Hughes and her family would be extremely grateful for any donations towards a handicap accessible van. We have to travel multiple times a week to get to therapies and specialist that are up to five hours away. Not having an accessible van is making it more difficult to get her out into the world around her and safely to her medical appointments.
