Help Adolfo Medina Overcome Renal Cancer

Hello everyone,

My name is Adolfo Medina, and I’m a 29-year-old with big dreams and a bright future ahead. I’ve always considered myself a family-oriented person, and I share my life with my amazing girlfriend, with whom I’ve been planning to build a life filled with love and purpose. My parents and I are incredibly close-knit, and together, we run a small family bakery. It’s not just our livelihood—it’s also a symbol of the dreams and hard work that brought us together in a new country.

I’m an immigrant from Venezuela who came to Chile in search of better opportunities. Like many others, I left my home to build a brighter future, embracing the challenges

of starting over with hope and determination.

Unfortunately, at the end of November, my life took an unexpected turn. During a routine medical check-up, the doctors discovered a right renal nodule with neoplastic characteristics. After further tests, I was diagnosed with Stage I Renal Cancer. While it’s been a devastating blow, I’m grateful that we caught it early, giving me hope for recovery.

Due to the location of the tumor, the surgery must be performed using robotic surgery, which is more precise but also more costly. Unfortunately, this type of surgery is not covered by the public healthcare system. To fight this, I urgently need a partial nephrectomy (kidney surgery). The cost of the surgery and associated medical expenses is around $12,000, an amount that is currently beyond my reach.

Mi nombre es Adolfo Medina, tengo 29 años y grandes sueños para un futuro lleno de esperanza. Siempre me he considerado una persona orientada a la familia, y comparto mi vida con mi increíble novia, con quien he estado planeando construir una vida llena de amor y propósito. Mis padres y yo somos una familia muy unida, y juntos, manejamos una pequeña panadería familiar. No es solo nuestro sustento, sino también un símbolo de los sueños y el esfuerzo que nos han unido en un nuevo país.

Soy inmigrante de Venezuela y llegué a Chile en busca de mejores oportunidades. Como muchos otros, dejé mi hogar para construir un futuro más brillante, abrazando los desafíos de empezar de nuevo con esperanza y determinación.

Desafortunadamente, a finales de noviembre, mi vida dio un giro inesperado. Durante un chequeo médico rutinario, los médicos descubrieron un nódulo renal derecho con características neoplásicas. Tras más pruebas, me diagnosticaron cáncer renal en estadio I. Aunque ha sido un golpe devastador, agradezco que lo hayamos detectado temprano, lo que me da esperanza para mi recuperación.

Debido a la ubicación del tumor, la cirugía debe realizarse mediante cirugía robótica, que es más precisa pero también más costosa. Lamentablemente, este tipo de cirugía no está cubierta por el sistema público de salud. Para luchar contra esto, necesito urgentemente una nefrectomía parcial (cirugía renal). El costo total de la cirugía y los gastos médicos asociados es de $12,000, una cantidad que actualmente está fuera de mi alcance.
