Help Adrienne LaFrance Heal and Recover
Donation protected
Hi everybody. My oldest daughter, Adrienne LaFrance, 46, was hospitalized in New Orleans last Saturday, 11-9-2024, after her husband Scott was unable to awaken her. She has been in ICU at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, Louisiana since that time, being treated for Acute Metabolic Encephalopathy. She was on a ventilator until yesterday and is still not cognizant, not coming around. Many complications getting her off the vent and sedation. When not sedated, she has no idea what is happening and is confused, combative, hallucinating, and terribly afraid.
I’ve been with her, sleeping in her room and eating at the hospital since last Sunday. Haven’t slept in a bed or had a shower, as hospital Social Work says they have no assistance funding. I am retired and currently depend on Social Security as my income, as I moved to Florida right before the hurricanes and had not yet established part-time employment.
There is no projected discharge date at this time and I have to stay with her, which will mean taking care of her after her discharge, remaining here in New Orleans somehow.
I have no idea what is to come, all I know is that I am her mother and have to somehow figure out how to afford to stay here and take care of her.
If anyone is able to help financially in any way, you’ll never know the depth of my appreciation. The love will be passed on.
Deepest appreciation,
Mary Messinger
