Help Aemilius Travel for Life-Changing Therapy!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexis, and I’m the proud mum of Aemilius, my beautiful and resilient two-and-a-half-year-old.
Aemilius faces unique challenges every day. Due to low muscle tone—a condition where muscles lack the strength and tension needed for movement—he cannot yet walk or stand independently, requiring significant assistance with his gross motor skills. Sitting and crawling have been hard-won milestones for him, and he continues to work tirelessly to improve.
One therapy that has made a profound difference is Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI). This specialized therapy is designed for children like Aemilius and has helped him achieve progress we once thought was out of reach. After his most recent session, he took 72 independent steps without support—an incredible milestone for our family.
DMI intensives typically run for one to three weeks, with multiple sessions each day. These intensives are critical for building strength and motor skills in a short period of time, allowing Aemilius to make significant progress.
He works so hard in everything he does, and his determination and progress fill us all with so much pride.
Unfortunately, DMI therapy is not available in Alice Springs, where we live. While the therapy itself is covered by the NDIS, we need to travel to access it.
Why We Need Your Help
This fundraiser will help us cover the cost of flights and accommodation so Aemilius can continue attending these vital therapy sessions.
As his primary carer, I trialed daycare for him, but it didn’t meet his complex needs. Leaving my job of 10 years was the only option to ensure he gets the care and attention he deserves.
Your Support Means the World
Every dollar raised will go directly toward travel expenses, making it possible for Aemilius to receive the therapy that helps him thrive.
Thank you for supporting us on this journey. Whether you donate or share our story, your kindness makes a difference.
With gratitude,
Alexis and Aemilius
