Help Afghan Family Escape Taliban
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Van, and in 2014 I took a job in Kabul, Afghanistan. While there, I worked alongside and befriended A. (anonymous for safety). He showed great kindness to me and helped me navigate living and working in his country. For years, he worked alongside Americans in U.S. Government-funded programs to help bring democracy and civil rights to everyone in his country. Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August, he and his family have lived in fear of retribution because of his years of working with me and other Americans. His name is on a death list that the Taliban fighters are using to search door-to-door and kill enemies. I'm asking for your help for A and his family. The first ask is to help cover the $2,300 application fee for Humanitarian Parole (link to USCIS HP page ). I hope you will consider becoming a part of his community of support!
A., his wife, 5-year old son and baby boy have fled their home and are hiding. They tried to fly out of Afghanistan before the government collapse, but commercial flights were cancelled, and despite his work for U.S. government-funded programs, he was not a priority for the military to airlift out. He is eligible for a U.S. visa, but the application process requires him to leave the country and will take months, if not years.
Several of his former American colleagues are working with me to get A's family to the U.S. to complete his visa - this process is called humanitarian parole, because they're experiencing extreme threats. The first step in this process with the U.S. Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) is to submit an application for parole, costing $2,300.
I'm asking for your help for A and his family. The first ask is to help cover the $2,300 application fee.
I hope you will consider becoming a part of his community of support! If he and his family flee Afghanistan, future needs may include airfare, contributions of material goods and money while they start a new life, and most of all kindness and friendship. They will be leaving behind home - their possessions and their family.
Thank you for any contribution you're able to make!
