Help Afghan family restart new life
Donation protected
My name is Jansen Hayhurst and I am a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I served in Afghanistan attached to a Special Operations Joint Task Force (SOJTF) in 2016 and 2017. During that time I worked with numerous Afghan allied forces. I have kept in contact with many of these Afghan allies over the years and have developed strong relationships with many of them. I currently live in Northern Colorado with my family where I support this family on a daily basis.
In July last year, I was contacted by two families asking me for help as their situation was degrading rapidly. Since then, I have stayed in constant contact with one of the families whose head of household was a translator I worked with. Since July of 2021 I have spoke with him on a daily basis and provided what ever support I could during their flee from Afghanistan. Their family consists of the husband and wife along with their 5 year old daughter and 18 month son.
During the retrograde of US forces, they fled the capital city of Kabul after a failed attempt to access the airport due to the suicide bombing that took place. They navigated numerous Taliban checkpoints on their route to Mazar-i-Sharif where they spent months in hiding, changing locations constantly as Taliban forces searched door-to-door for them.
From there, they acquired Visa's to Pakistan and made the perilous 4 day journey to Pakistan through the Taliban controlled Torkham Pass. Bribing their way and sustaining multiple beatings at various checkpoints they successfully made passage into Pakistan and have been residing outside Islamabad attempting to gain Visa's to the United States. Through this 6 month journey the family has sold all of their possessions and exhausted all of their finances paying bribes and ransoms for safe passage. They are eating whatever discarded food they can find and using a single lightbulb for warmth. They legitimately have nothing other than their immediate family, their faith and our support. Recently, they obtained legal Visa's to Brazil and now need financial assistance to purchase plane tickets to Brazil along with money to aid them in their pursuit for a new life here in the United States. I need your help to get this family started on the right foot as they begin their new lives. This is the most grateful and humble family I have ever met. It is a disgrace that we left them behind after all the husband sacrificed from working with US forces. Despite this, his faith has never faltered. He has taught me so much through these challenging times. I am committed to helping them gain safe passage to a life he and his family deserve.
Any amount that you can give is greatly appreciated and will be instrumental in welcoming this new generation of Americans to their new home! I am truly grateful for your support!
