9 Children. 3 Years in hiding without parents.
A Family Torn by Chaos, Tyranny & War.
Now, A Chance to Reunite.
My name is Jennifer. I have started this fundraiser to help an Afghan couple who now live and work in Vermont. They arrived here as refugees three years ago after escaping during the disorderly U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in late August 2021.
But while they found safety, their hearts remain broken. Their nine children were left behind. Six daughters (including twin girls) and three sons, now aged between 7 and 20.
The children spent the past three long, painful years in hiding, in fear, and without the love of their parents.
We Beg You ❤️
Imagine being a mother separated from your babies for three years.
Imagine being a 7-year-old girl, unable to attend school, hiding in silence, waiting for parents you don’t even remember.
Imagine watching your children grow up through blurry phone screens, hearing their cries but not being able to hold them.
Please donate what you can.
Please share this story.
Please help bring these nine children home.
The Family
This family’s nightmare began on August 26, 2021, during the tragic suicide bombing at Abbey Gate, Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul, Afghanistan. 170 Afghan civilians and 13 U.S. service members were killed and scores injured, most critically.
The father had worked on a U.S. military base and was actively being hunted by the Taliban so the family was at the airport ready to board a flight to the US when the attack happened. In the ensuing chaos, the parents were separated from their children.
The parents were rushed onto a plane, with U.S. officials promising their nine children would follow shortly. That promise was never fulfilled. In the confusion, the children were left behind and remain in Kabul more than 3 years later.
A Window of Hope
The parents have done everything right for three years. They have complied with all U.S. laws and filed the proper forms. They have waited patiently. They have worked hard in Vermont and established relationships with their new community.
In December, they finally received word: the children had interviews and medical exams in Kabul and the reunion was near. But then, everything collapsed when the agency charged with reunifying Afghan families was defunded by the Trump administration.
Why We Need Your Help
By a stroke of grace, we have connected with an organization that has on multiple occasions, successfully rescued and relocated over 800 Afghans to the U.S. They are ready to help. But we have a small and closing window of opportunity.
The cost to rescue and resettle all nine children to the United States is $100,000.
The parents are giving all their savings — but we still need to raise $60,000 immediately.
This money will cover:
• Legal and immigration support
• Flights and travel logistics
• Safe housing
• Emergency healthcare
• Escort and protection services
No child should grow up without their parents.
No parent should live without their children.
You can make this reunion possible. Today.
