Help our family after the catastrophical storm in Valencia

Queridos amigos, familiares y personas solidarias,

Para los que no nos conozcáis, somos Victor y Marc, dos hermanos, cuyos padres, dos jubilados, se han visto duramente golpeados por las inundaciones de Valencia, pues su única residencia se encuentra en Paiporta, pegada al barranco del Poyo, una de las zonas más afectadas por la catástrofe.

La casa, era la típica construcción de pueblo de dos plantas. El piso de abajo ha sido completamente arrasado por el agua cuya fuerza arrastró a su paso puertas, ventanas, muebles, electrodomésticos, bienes de todo tipo e incluso paredes. Aunque ellos pudieron refugiarse de los 3 metros de agua en el segundo piso, el arquitecto que ha valorado la casa tras la inundación ha confirmado que estructuralmente está débil y que no es segura hasta que no se refuerce con la correspondiente obra. También han perdido sus medios de transporte habitual: coche y moto.

EL DE NUESTROS PADRES ES SOLO UN EJEMPLO QUE NOS TOCA MUY DE CERCA, PERO HAY MILES DE HISTORIAS IGUAL O MÁS DURAS QUE LA SUYA.

Los fondos necesarios para que los afectados puedan recuperar mínimamente la normalidad, son muchos, y no sabemos si llegaran, ni cuándo. El tiempo requerido para que se hagan efectivas las ayudas siempre corre lento, eso sin contar el tiempo de tramitación. Por eso, os pedimos vuestro apoyo a través de esta página de donaciones para poderlos ayudarlos, a ellos, y otros vecinos y amigos, que como ellos han perdido mucho o todo, con las necesidades más inmediatas y los básicos para vivir dignamente.

Los fondos recaudados se destinarán a:

- Ayuda en la implementación de medidas de seguridad para intentar salvar casas.

- Ayuda en alquileres de pisos temporales mientras se realizan las obras.

- Ayuda en reparación y alquiler de vehículos, especialmente motos para facilitar el acceso a las zonas afectadas. Ahora mismo hay entre 30 y 60 minutos andando para ir y otro tanto para volver según el punto de la ciudad desde el que se intente acceder. Estos vehículos facilitan además el transporte de materiales y voluntarios.

- Ropa tanto de trabajo y de invierno para los afectados que lo necesiten.

- Equipos de trabajo, protección y limpieza, queda mucho por hacer y se necesitan las herramientas adecuadas.

El apoyo de amigos y voluntarios experimentado estos días es algo que nos ha emocionado y que nunca olvidaremos. Nos quedamos sin palabras al contemplar la destrucción en nuestro pueblo, pero sabemos que juntos saldremos de esta.

Dear Friends, Family and kind strangers,

For those who don't know me, my name is Victor, and my parents (Marcos and Flor)

live in Paiporta, one of the most affected areas by the floods in Valencia. The damage in their home is just overwhelming. The whole downstairs floor is completely gone. Walls collapsed, furniture and appliances destroyed or gone (literally carried away by the river) together with the car, bikes, motorbike, and all their stored belongings. The structural integrity of the house has been declared unsafe and at risk of collapse.

The amount of funds and time needed to recover normality is simply unfathomable and out of reach at the moment, but we need support to secure the safety of our family, and our ability to keep helping on the ground.

I have also temporary left my life in Berlin and moved to Valencia to work on the ground and support our town and all our friends that are giving their absolute everything physically and mentally to help the families affected. My brother Marc also came and will be going back and forth from Barcelona indefinitely.

Funds will be used to:

Most of the funds will go towards immediate damage repair and safety measures to try to salvage the house.

Rental of a flat, potentially other flat for neighbours that are pregnant (we can't predict for how long rentals will be needed)

Vehicles Repair; Specially motorbikes for easy access to affected areas. Access is very complicated, for now without motorbike it's 1 hour walking from the city and another to walk back, + all the hours shovelling mud. With more vehicles we're also able to make rounds and bring volunteers back and forth.

Clothes; both for working, everyday and winter clothes. My parents lost all their clothes, and I came with 15kg equipment from berlin and literally have 2 pants and 4 tshirts here.

Tools; most tools for working around are being donated at the moment, but there's always specific material you can't find depending on the situation.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. If you are not in a position to afford donating, we'll be incredibly grateful if you simply help us sharing our story.

The support from our friends has been something I have never experienced before in my life, and if you have made it this far I want to thank you too from the bottom of my heart. We are at a loss of words when contemplating the destruction in our area but we know that together we'll get through this.
