Hello everyone. My name is Annie. I am partner of Steven Jackson and am asking for help through this traumatic time. Many of you know Steven, the individual that was brutally attacked and killed by a bear on June 16, in Prescott, AZ.

His death is felt by so many who loved him, and I'm completely devastated to have lost my love.

We have been living together for 15 years, but since Arizona does not recognize common-law marriage, the burden of all financial responsibilities will rely on me. Steven was the one who took charge of almost everything in our day-to-day routine regarding finances.

I am not sure how I will survive now that he is gone. We have been living in our Tucson home, fixing it up, so we could sell it next year, while we built our future home in Prescott where we could grow old together in what was possibly one of his favorite places on earth. Steven was an amazing, inspiring, and kind man. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. There are not enough words to describe what he meant to so many.

In addition to trying to cope with losing him, Steven's extremely shocking and unanticipated death has immediately put me in a perilous situation due to the nature of our financial arrangement and ongoing growing legal costs, keeping the electricity on during these hot days in Tucson, AZ, doctor visits, food, and other living costs.

My heart goes out to everyone who knew Steven and is hurting as well. May we be gentle and kind with ourselves and one another as we all heal.
