About me

Hi, my name is Afua, you might know me already, if not please let me introduce myself.

I live in Denmark and I am doing a Masters at Copenhagen University, where I study African Studies. I absolutely love studying African Studies and I find it inspiring. It keeps me alert and I get a deeper insight into potentials and challenges African countries are faced with, in a global context.

I have a creative background. I do visual art, sound art and performance art; I sing, act and create handmade artcraft. My latest piece was 'Dive', a sound installation, made for the exhibition 'Diaspora Dreams', exploring sense of belonging.

My next step

I am highly motivated to dive even deeper into the field of Africa related topics at Boston University. The areas I will emerge myself into is art, music and diaspora topics, in relation to the African continent and with a special focus on Ghana.

The outcome of your support

Boston University is a recognized university and has one of the oldest and best African Centers in the States. I will join an international environment and get a global outlook. I will be able to gain in depth and nuanced knowledge about the African continent and the diaspora.

In the future I hope to contribute to a nuanced debate and information about issues related to the African continent and it's diaspora, through art and teaching.
