One day you are celebrating your 70th birthday full of life, joy, and laughter, surrounded by your children, grandchildren, and close friends. Your life flashes before your eyes, and you ponder on how far God has brought you. The next month, you receive a diagnosis that would change your life forever. Your life once again flashes before your eyes; only this time, it’s not quite as exciting.
That is what it was like for Agnes, my mother, a vivacious God-fearing woman who had dedicated her whole life to caring for others, especially her patients. She was a nurse and midwife, adored for her tender touch and soothing words; she touched many lives. The loss of her husband to diabetes several years ago after caring for him, most of their married lives were among the hardest things she had to endure. While juggling her career and life's challenges, she raised 6 children. Anyone who knows her will testify that she cared deeply for everyone she encountered, offering everything she had, while never anticipating that one day she will be on the other side, needing help from others.
Agnes learned of her ovarian cancer diagnosis during a recent visit to see her grandchildren in December 2020. The doctors are optimistic that Agnes will survive as her cancer is in stage 3, but she needs at least six chemotherapy cycles. Next will be surgery, followed by more rounds of chemotherapy. Since she spent most of her life outside the United States, she does not have health insurance and must pay for all her treatments out of pocket. Therefore, we need your help and prayers.
Your donation will help pay for Agnes’s medical bills, so she gets the care she needs. Agnes is a fighter, so let us all join hands to give her a fighting chance. Thank you for your generous donation to give life back to a woman who helped give life to many.
