Help Ahmad, Alaa, Mohammad, Yazan and Rahaf Reach Safety

Hello, my name is Anne and I am fundraising on behalf of our friend Ahmad and his family from Gaza,

“My story is simple. I have worked my whole life to build a house for me and my kids. I had a small grocery shop below my house, but Israel bombed both and everything I worked for tirelessly went to waste. But my dreams are never lost. I am looking to leave Gaza and find other opportunities until I go back to Gaza and build a new home for me, my wife and my three young children to build our life again in our homeland.”

This is Ahmad Samameh’s story. Ahmad, his wife Alaa, and three kids, Mohammad (10 years old), Rahaf (4 years old) and Yazan (8 years old), from the city of Gaza, are seeking to reach safety after going through over 200 days of continued massacres, bombing and starvation. After losing their grocery shop in Gaza, Ahmad’s job inside the Green Line and their home, the family has lost all financial capabilities and are asking you to help them reach Egypt, a very costly and difficult endeavor.

In addition to their family-owned store that was shattered to pieces, for years Ahmad was working inside the Green Line under exploitative conditions. On the 7th of October Ahmad suffered the same fate as thousands of other workers who weren’t able to go back to Gaza and ended up in the West Bank, having to live a few months with no means of survival and away from their families living under the relentless bombing. Ahmad’s only wish was to go back to Gaza and be with his family, and he managed to go back only after being arrested for weeks inside Israeli detention with no one able to know his fate. After going through a long and tedious journey to get to his home, walking for hours while Israeli rockets were falling non-stop, Ahmad managed to reach his family.

Like over a million Gazans, Ahmad and his family were displaced and had to live in tents for months, with little food and protection, until they decided to go back to the north and are now staying in a household with several families sharing space. Ahmad would have never thought of leaving Gaza, nor ask for money from anyone, if it wasn’t for his desire to provide protection for his kids.

With the border broadly closed, Egypt currently requests thousands of dollars just to get to Egypt, this is why the cost currently needed is 16,000$, plus potential admin and other travel fees to reach safety in Egypt. Any donation, big or small, is highly appreciated and can help Ahmad, Alaa,Mohammad, Rahaf and Yazan reach safety.
