Help Ahsan Fight Stage 4 Cancer

In the name of God, the Merciful and the Compassionate.

Assalamu alaikum/Peace to all,

In 2017, at the age of 27, my youngest brother Ahsan's life and that of his family was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was put on a vigorous course of chemotherapy at a specialist cancer unit in Hammersmith Hospital. This went on for nearly a year and resulted in Ahsan's quality of life rapidly deteriorating.

Ahsan went from being an active, fit, healthy man in his prime to being bedridden with no energy whatsoever. The chemotherapy left him drained and constantly feeling nauseous, with vomiting on most days. He lost his hair, his eyebrows and even his eyelashes. There was a time when he looked so different that it broke my heart to think that I would be unable to recognise my brother if I passed him on the street.

As we all know, chemotherapy lowers your immune system, which resulted in Ahsan constantly suffering from secondary infections, anemia, swelling and bruising.

Then there were issues with loss of appetite, chronic diarrhoea, and severe weight loss, not to mention all the emotional problems that accompany a cancer diagnosis. As they say, pictures tell a thousand words, and you can see from the pictures I have shared, just how badly the chemotherapy treatments affected my brother.

After nearly a year of gruelling chemotherapy, Ahsan was finally given the all-clear. Alhamdulillah it was the news we had all been praying for, and we were all just desperate to help 'nurse' him back to his former pre-cancer healthy self.

However, not even a year down the line, and we were given the devastating news that Ahsan's cancer was back, that it was even worse than before and that he would have to go on an even more potent course of chemotherapy, coupled with stem cell transplants. The consultants advised him that these treatments had a significantly lower chance of success compared to the first course of chemotherapy he had undergone.

Given that his initial year of chemo hadn’t worked, and the doctor’s stark warning of the reduced chance of success, Ahsan decided against any further chemotherapy. His quality of life had been so bad during his one year of chemo, and he had suffered so much from the side effects that he decided that he could simply not go through the same suffering again, especially since the prognosis was so poor. The doctors had also warned him that it was highly likely that he would be unable to have children as a result of the chemo.

Ahsan started researching alternative methods of healing his cancer and attended a natural clinic in Switzerland where he had to stay for a month. His immediate family rallied around him and managed to raise sufficient money with the mercy of the Almighty, to help him pay for his private treatment. During this time, he was introduced to extensive alternative remedies, including toxin removal, ozone therapy, infusions, stress management, medication and a regimental diet plan.

That was over 3 years back, and Ahsan has been following natural healing methods as best as he can, ever since. He has made slow but steady progress and Alhamdulillah, has since been blessed with 3 beautiful children ages 5, 2 and a baby just 8 weeks old. He has surprised even his own doctors, who have actually been interested in finding out what methods Ahsan has been using in his fight against the disease. His pictures are evident of just how much healthier and happier he has been following a natural treatment route compared to the chemo route.

Notwithstanding this, Ahsan recently underwent a routine PET scan which has devastatingly shown that not only is he at stage 4 but that the cancer appears to be spreading into his spleen and chest. This has taken us all aback, given that he appears so healthy on the outside. However, he has gone the last 3 years without any professional treatment whatsoever, mainly due to the costs involved, and has simply been doing whatever he can himself to live a healthy lifestyle.

It is now absolutely vital that he returns to the clinic so that his doctors can restart professional treatment, to once again reset his body to fight the spread of this ugly disease.

Since the start of his cancer, not once has Ahsan ever complained. He has faced this with courage and faith; his strength has inspired us all. Many of you will be following his Instagram page (link below). You would have witnessed just how bravely he has handled his illness and how he has the most amazing positive attitude, putting his total trust in the Almighty.

Not only is he self-disciplined in his own actions, but throughout his illness he has gone out of his way to help others who are also suffering, sometimes taking hours out to talk to them and share his ‘gems’ of advice, helping them to fight their own battles. He is so determined to help others that he gave up his career as a chartered surveyor to become a Certified Nutrition Coach. His sole aim is to help others through their diet, natural remedies and a holistic approach to their illnesses. He touches everyone he meets with his friendly, helpful personality, always ready to help others.

However, my brother himself would never ask anyone for help. His treatment is not only costly but located abroad, and I know that Ahsan is struggling to find the money to fund the specialist treatment he now desperately needs.

The treatment involves lengthy periods away from his family, and he will have the added worry about being unable to work and support them during these difficult times. Lack of finances is extra pressure that none of us want Ahsan to deal with, as stress is a major factor in the spread of cancer.

To this end, I have set up this page in the hope that through his family, friends and well-wishers, we can raise enough money for Ahsan to be able to undergo the specialist treatment he needs. The funds would enable him to continue with at least another 3 comprehensive treatment periods at the clinic, while also having sufficient funds to support his wife and three small children during this challenging period.

Every day we thank the Almighty for Ahsan’s time with us and pray that he will be given total healing, as nothing is difficult for the All-Powerful, the Most Kind and the Most Merciful.

Your help and more importantly, your prayers would be greatly appreciated. It would also mean a great deal if you could please share this fundraiser with all your friends and family.

Above all, please don’t forget to keep Ahsan and his family in your prayers.
