Ailean is more than just my dog—he’s my protector, my champion, and my best friend. When I was going through cancer, Ailean was always by my side, giving me comfort and strength when I needed it most. He’s an AKC champion, but more importantly, he’s the sweetest boy with a gentle heart who has touched everyone he meets.

Recently, Ailean became very sick. He started straining, became nauseous, and began having bloody diarrhea. In just 48 hours, we’ve had to rush to the emergency room twice. The vets discovered he has a perineal hernia, a serious condition that will likely require a difficult and expensive surgery. The road ahead is uncertain, and the surgery itself has a high failure rate, but I want to do everything I can to give Ailean the best chance at recovery.

This is all happening at a time when I am also going through a divorce and being forced to sell my house. The emotional and financial strain is overwhelming, but I can’t give up on Ailean after all he’s done for me.
