Help Air Force Veteran Get A Service Puppy!

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

My name is Monica. My husband, Garrett, is in need of some support. It is for our family really and honestly! As some of you may know, Garrett with in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. When he retired, he went into parole and probation for the State of NC. He went to what he called "The Dark Side" and worked the special victims unit, mainly working with pedophiles, sex offenders and anything else that could be thrown his way. He did it without hesitation as most of the people he was protecting were children. Because of this, he deals with severe, and at times, completely debilitating PTSD, insomnia, hyper vigilance and night terrors. This not only effects him mostly, but it effects our little family as well.

He was in the commissary about 2 weeks ago, and there was a Veteran there who had a service dog and he said that for the first time, just for those very few minutes that he was talking to him and playing with the dog, that everything calmed down and he was able to focus on that sweet puppy and not everything else around him. He immediately called me on the way home to tell me about it. I have suggested a service dog because I know how much our dogs help him and felt like this was the perfect example of it. Needless to say, he was on board at that point.

We are NOT the type of people who ask for anything or a handout but as Garrett told me, this is a hand up for him and for us. He served our Country for 20 years and came out and served NC for 18 years protecting innocent children mostly which has taken it's toll on his mental health to say the least. It has taken it's toll on our marriage, relationship and family as well.

We have located an AMAZING breeder in VA who we have already spoken to and we are going on the waiting list for a sweet female Doberman to born in December. She will be coming home to us in February. The costs of all of this is going to run us around $5000 to get her to us. She will have special training as well once we get her home to be able to recognize if something is not "right" such a the presence of anxiety and hypervigilance. This is where the additional funds will go towards. We will be working with a trainer who specializes in PTSD. We know that this is not an inexpensive endeavor by any means but this is something that Garrett DESERVES and desperately needs!

Breakdown of price
$1000 to be on the waiting list
$1000 when our sweet girl has arrived
$1800 when we pick her up and bring her home
$1200 for vet check, shots, gas to VA and back, training, etc.

I know this isn’t achievable all at once and even the smallest amounts add up! If you can’t donate, please share this wherever you can.

Any help that anyone could do would be so appreciated. I will share updated as we get them from Hannah as we hope to have this sweet puppy as part of our family soon. Once again, I know that times are tough right now but ANYTHING would be so helpful to our family. This man gives so much all the time for us and has given just about everything for his Country and his community.

Thank you and God bless!
