Help AJ Access Essential Surgery
Donation protected
Hey! I'm AJ (he/they). I am a disabled non-binary trans person who has faced many obstacles in my pursuit of gender-affirming top surgery. While I do have insurance, not many doctors take Medicaid and there are significant fatphobic surgery restrictions in the form BMI limits. Due to this, I had only two providers to choose from and both denied me care. This, as well as the turning tides of politics in our country, have forced me to make the difficult decision to pay out-of-pocket for a doctor that is affirming and can schedule quickly.
I found an excellent surgeon and surgery is currently scheduled for April 16th, 2025, however, I share finances with my two other disabled partners, surviving on a single income to support the three of us. We have some savings that we are able to put towards the surgery cost (total cost $18,000+), but are reaching out to the community for support in fundraising the remaining $12,000.
