Help Akemi Salon During Covid-19

Donation protected
With the Shelter-in-place order, Akemi Salon was forced to close until further notice.  To say that things are challenging right now is an understatement. Covid-19 has affected everyone in the world in some way or another but as a small business we are in crisis .  Our salon plans to continue to remain closed until it is deemed safe to reopen to ensure we are all doing our part and helping to keep others safe and healthy.

Established in 2006, Akemi has always been a cruelty-free & environmentally friendly salon in Portland.  Beauty should never involve cruelty, so we are proud to use products that are healthy for the planet, people and animals.  Akemi's mission is to create an environment for people to explore and express their individual style by providing top quality hair services, tools and products.

As many know, Akemi is a chair rental salon in Portland and every Stylist here is considered a self employed, small business owner and and each of us is responsible for paying our space rent, insurance and utilities. Unfortunately, there are no benefits at this time that any of us can qualify for and we are not able to generate income until we are able to reopen the salon.  But we are all constantly doing our best to try and get approved for any sort of lifeline and so far everything has been ineffective.

Some of you, dear clients, family and friends have asked how you can help us during this time and this is how.....

We humbly ask if could donate, to help towards the overall salon overhead expenses, until we can reopen.  All proceeds will be used to provide financial relief for us as a whole and will directly affect the salon's overhead so that the  stylist can have financial relief from paying salon rent and only worry about putting food on their tables instead.  It's truly hard to ask, but sometimes we have to pull together and do whatever we can to help each other.  If you are unable to donate, I would also encourage any words of encouragement as well as maybe a positive review  wouldn't hurt.

As a small business, we are all worried about our future and where the crisis will lead us.  Most of us at the salon are just trying to survive at the moment on hope that the world will be better tomorrow.

Thank you in advance, from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can give. All of us at Akemi cannot wait to have you back in our chairs hopefully very soon.

Sincerely,

Akemi Team
