Help Akiak Families Power Their Homes

My name is Shawna Williams, I am a tribal member of the Akiak Native Community. Akiak is a tiny village along the Kuskokwim River in Western Alaska. Our community has been without electricity for over a month. Many people have had to purchase portable generators for their homes and have had to use 5-10 gallons of gas per day to run them so that their freezers can work and to heat their homes. A gallon of gas costs $6.72.

To run the personal generators, we’ve had to spend about $34 to $67 per day for 33 days…so far. I’m starting this fundraiser with hopes to help 33 households with fuel. My goal is to be able to get them at least 10 gallons each.
