Hello everyone,
My name is Akili Harcus, and I am reaching out for your support to help me get back to school and continue pursuing my education. Unfortunately, due to a remaining balance of $7,400 after financial aid, plus a final housing bill of now after interest $4,500 bringing a total of $11,900. I am struggling to keep up and pay it off in time, which has caused major stress on me and affected my mental health. I am already currently overworking myself as a nurse assistant and doing PCA service, will leave to over 40-60 maybe more hours a week and leave me to little time to rest and plan for next semester I am trying my best to find resources and plan for when i do return with applying to scholarships and loans but and I am extremely overwhelmed and becoming mentally exhausted. Additionally, as an out-of-state student who just moved to Texas in August 2022, I am facing extra challenges. My parents already have their own struggles, and while they do as much as they can, I am trying to take off the extra stress and help out as much as I can. The out-of-state fees have put me in a bind, forcing me to sit out a semester until I can get my balance paid off, putting my education on hold.
I am currently a sophomore enrolled at PVAMU, studying nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Despite the challenges, I have managed to maintain above a 3.0 GPA and have been on the honor roll. I am extremely passionate about helping others feel better and safe, and I am a dedicated scholar in pursuing a career in the healthcare field as a Registered Nurse, with plans to further my education to become a Nurse Practitioner. Education is my top priority, and I am determined to overcome these challenges and achieve my dreams and aspirations. I believe that with the right support and mindset, I will make that happen no matter what.
Making this GoFundMe was a difficult decision, cause I don’t like to put my business out there and beg but it has become more worrisome. I am in desperate hope and need of returning to school and continuing my education by the fall of 2024. I'm not asking for much, but your contributions, no matter the size, will make a huge difference in my journey. My intentions are pure and genuine and all donations will go straight towards tuition fees, housing fees, and any other educational expenses.
