Help Akok & cousins who were kidnapped by Egyptian
Greetings all,
My name is Abraham Pacifico, I am a local community organizer for the South Sudanese community in Dallas, TX.
I’ve created this campaign on behalf of Akok's family based in Cairo, Egypt. Please help us raise funds to help this family with relocation services and to pay for medical expenses related to their kidnapping attack.
Here’s what happened
Having spoken to the victims and their caretaker, we’ve learned that last week, Akok Akok Akol (14) and his female cousins were kidnapped and forced into the apartment of Egyptian’s thugs — Khaled and his mother. One young girl was stripped naked and raped while Khaled recorded her and took pictures. Another female had her hair shaved off as a way to humiliate her.
The victims were all physically beaten and sexually assaulted. After the abuse, Akok was forced to wash dishes and mop the floor while being verbally humiliated — fearing for what’s to come. Unabashed, Khaled posted that footage on Tiktok.
Thankfully, the victims managed to escape from their attackers and ran home. Their mother, Rania Deng, was heartbroken when she saw her son and the condition of her nieces.
The Egyptian authorities were immediately notified and the criminals were later arrested. Currently, the case is pending for the next two weeks due to the ongoing investigation.
Here's why this matters
There is little to no justice for South Sudanese victims in Cairo. Raina Deng has been threatened to drop this case in fear of her family's life. She was also propositioned by lawyers with a payment settlement to keep them silent.
As we’ve seen time and time before, the South Sudanese are the most vulnerable in Egypt and their voices are seldom heard. Help us bring attention to the ongoing mistreatment our people face. The Egyptian authorities as well as the South Sudanese government continue to neglect their cries but they need your help. Time is of the essence.
Your contribution and support are highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Abraham
