My Journey
Hello, my name is Alaa and I come before you today seeking your support to achieve a dream that will positively impact countless lives. As a Nuclear Engineering graduate from Sudan University of Science and Technology, the only such program in my country. I am determined to obtain a Master's degree in my field and address our nation's urgent energy crisis.

Dreams Shattered by War
Just as I completed my university studies, the war disrupted everything. The ongoing war has destroyed institutions and even reached citizens' homes.

Forced to flee
My family and I were forced to abandon our home urgently, escaping with nothing beyond what we could carry.
At first, we fled the violence that broke out in Khartoum and moved to White Nile State for safety.
On the way we faced many hardships, but the most painful was seeing the bodies lying in the streets, burnt, dismembered, and emitting a foul stench. It was an incredibly shocking sight, but our main concern was finding safety and stability. But the opposite happened. Subsequent attacks led by Rapid Support Forces left us no choice but to again uproot our lives, this time seeking safe haven farther north.
My family and I have faced a lot since this war began. Terrifying nights with sounds of explosions and gunfire all around, and constant struggles just to get food or water - it's really taken a toll on us.
We also lost all our sources of income, and because of the war and the difficult humanitarian situation, there are no job opportunities at all. The economy is completely destroyed.
The emotional strain of such an unstable situation still affects me, but I've never lost sight of better days to come. Even after losing so much and having to flee our home, my dream to build my career and help Sudan's energy sector remains strong.

A Glimmer of Hope
I persevered and sought opportunities to pursue a master’s degree. By the grace of God, after rigorous selection, I secured a place to pursue a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in Italy. The expenses of study and housing are covered by the DSU scholarship, but the biggest problem that is hindering me now is the travel expenses to complete the procedures.

New Challenges
Due to the ongoing war, all embassy operations in Sudan have ceased, necessitating travel to a neighboring country to complete visa procedures. I now need to travel to outside Sudan to finalize my visa application. I must make this journey by October, to retain my place in the program.

My Request for Support
I am seeking your support to fund my travel from Sudan to outside Sudan and then to Italy to start my studies. The total cost for this journey is 3,000 Euros including internal transportation from River Nile to port Sudan, flight from Port Sudan to outside Sudan, and accommodation. This master’s program represents a gateway to creating new opportunities and a better future for both myself and my country.

Why should you help me?
I humbly ask for your support to further empower Sudan's energy independence and development. Despite immense personal hardship, I have remained determined that through education, sustainable solutions can alleviate challenges inhibiting progress. I am now requesting assistance to make the journey abroad that will equip me with expertise to implement impactful innovations through applied nuclear engineering skills.
Any contribution, regardless of size, directly invests in a brighter future - one where my knowledge uplifts living standards across my community through accessible, reliable power. Consider joining me in envisioning a stronger, self-sufficient Sudan. I ask only that you reflect on the difference your generosity could make for so many, through empowering one individual to solve pressing issues. I am profoundly grateful for any support.
