Help Alan Through This Difficult Time
Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family,
In February, my brother, Alan spent 10 days in the ICU at Marymount Hospital in very critical condition. Due to severe liver disease, he ruptured a vein in his esophagus (esophageal varices) and experienced life-threatening internal bleeding. He lost a great deal of blood, went into shock and his colon and kidneys started to shut down. He underwent surgery to band the esophagus and staple the stomach lining to stop the internal bleeding. While in the ICU, we waited daily to see if his organs would return to function and the bleeding to stop – luckily, all went in a positive direction, eventually. He may still need a liver transplant in the future, as his liver is severely damaged. Alan is currently recovering (thankfully) in a skilled nursing facility / medical rehabilitation center and will likely be there for several weeks. First and foremost, please pray for Alan’s full recovery as some of his labs are still medically unstable, even though he is getting physically stronger every day. Second, we are creating this GoFundMe page to help Alan with his personal & medical expenses while we assist him in applying for disability. Any donation is extremely appreciated and helpful as we support him through this really difficult time. He has a second chance at this thing called life (thank you, God!!) and we can’t wait to see him back on his feet again. Thank you for your generosity, in advance for any and all levels of support! ;o)
