Help Albanian churches help earthquake victims
Donation protected
On Tuesday, November 26th at 4:00 am a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the highly populated central region of Albania causing loss of life, many injuries, and widespread damage to structures and fears of further quakes. Many remain outside in the cold and have homes which have been damaged and are currently in need of shelter and basic needs.
We are an Albanian immigrant church located in the New York metro area and a registered 501(c)3 non-profit in the State of New Jersey. As part of a network of Albanian immigrant churches in North America, we are partnering with the Albanian Evangelical Brotherhood (known in Albania as the Vëllazëria Ungjillore Shqiptare or VUSH) which represents nearly 200 evangelical Christian churches across Albania that exist in major towns and villages.
VUSh is recognized by the Albanian government as representing our faith community and we are coordinating our efforts and are in direct communication with Ylli Doci, the current President of VUSh and a long-time friend of our current pastor and missionary to Albania, Steve Galegor, who himself returns to Albania 3 to 4 times a year.
There are local Christian churches in the major towns and villages of Albania. VUSh is working on site with churches in the region affected by the earthquake so that the churches there have funds to help their own neighbors with immediate personal needs like food, clothing and shelter. We are raising these funds in order to also help up to 100 families on a monthly basis through the next 5 months of winter.
We will be sending these funds from our bank here in the US to VUSh via their account at Intesa San Paolo Bank. Funds will then be given to churches upon request in order to help specific individuals and families suffering in the aftermath of the earthquake.
You can learn more about VUSH at their Facebook page - Vëllazëria Ungjillore e Shqipërisë (https://www.facebook.com/Vëllazëria-Ungjillore-e-Shqipërisë-821469541234139/) and also their website www.vush.al
