Help Albany HUTS Provide Secure Transitional Housing
Donation protected
Conestoga huts form the backbone of our Albany HUTS transitional shelter community. The huts are 6 feet by 10 feet, with standing headroom and a covered porch. The door is lockable, providing privacy as well as an important measure of safety. Solar LED motion-sensor lights will provide additional security. An operable sliding window in the rear wall provides ventilation. The huts are completely weatherproof, even in strong winds, heavy rain, or snow. They are insulated on all sides and may have an optional solar-powered 12-volt mini-split heating/cooling system, depending on the funding made available by grants and donations.
Albany HUTS is a safe spot environment that is designed to foster cooperation, respect, and communication. Many unsheltered individuals experience profound loneliness, isolation, and lack of social support from the local community. Having a supportive group of peers, in a caring and supportive environment, can make a huge difference.
Our Safe Spot Community is off-grid, lacking hookups to traditional sewer, water, and electricity. We will provide portable restrooms, hand-washing sinks, trash cans, and solar LED security lights. Albany HUTS can offer a safe spot where the unsheltered individuals can sleep safely and out of the weather.
Your donations will help to provide weather-protective shelter to unsheltered individuals, currently living on the streets in the Albany, Oregon area, as they transition towards a more stable and self-reliant lifestyle.
